Major on the Majors

I. Don't be like the Pharisees and Scribes

a. Hypocrite = actors who wear a mask, playing a role that isn't true of their life

b. Blind guides = leading without seeing

c. Straining a gnat and swallowing a camel = a play on words

gnat = "camla" in Aramaic and camel = "gamla"

Jesus has a sense of humor

d. They tithed on herbs= fastidious on tiny little things but omitted the major things of justice, mercy and faith.

II. Major on the Majors: Micah 6:8 is reflected in Matt. 23: 23-24

a. Justice = fairness; love your neighbor as yourself. Can you live up to your expectations of others?

b. Mercy = "Hesed" meaning loyal love. One who loves live a best friend, who never fails us and is generous to us. Go loves us and so we should show it to others. Love this kind of love!

c. Faith = walk humbly with your God. Live with him every day.
